Saemi Hanagat (top) to fight Erika Hanawa for the OPBF Female minimumweight title on March 8.
SAEMI Hanagata will defend her Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) female minimumweight title against fellow Japanese Erika Hanawa on March 8 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
Hanawa is currently the interim OPBF female minimumweight champion. She won the title via a 3rd round technical knockout against Thailand’s Sornsawan Khunmarn last November 10 at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Puerto Princesa City.
Hanagata (13W-7L-4D, 7 KOs) lost her previous fight, a non-title bout via a majority decision against Shione Ogata last September 30 at the KBS Hall in Kyoto.
The Hanagata-Hanawa title-fight is in the undercard of the double world championships featuring Kayoko Ebata against Ji Yun Park for the WBO world female minimumweight crown and Chaoz Minowa versus Tenkai Tsunami for the vacant WBO world female light flyweight title. (LITO DELOS REYES)
