Our dear President Maurucio Sulaiman today celebrates his Birthday.
Unanimously elected our Leader, following the death on January 16th 2014, of beloved Lifetime President Jose Sulaiman, Maurico has just been unanimously re-elected to another term, by the World Boxing Council`s Board of Governors, at the 54th Convention in Miami. Senior Vice President Rex Walker summed it up, praising Mauricio`s inspirational, innovative and industrious leadership, in which he always makes time to smile, chat, share a joke and laugh in the heartfelt family tradition, stressing: “Mauricio is certainly the best man for the job.”
Mauricio has championed the Jose Sulaiman Fund for retired boxers, who were facing dire hardship. But who now receive an independently administered pension plus free medical services. Mauricio has launched the pioneering WBC Anti Doping Campaign, with the Motto of: “You use, you lose.” Involving the random testing of the first fifteen fighters in each of the WBC“s weight categories, and expertly monitored by VADA, it`s designed to protect the health of the boxers and the integrity of the sport. There`s the continued steadfast support for WBC Cares, which visits children’s homes, orphanages and youngsters in hospital, in which champions bring hugs, toys and vital encouragement.
Mauricio has led the initiative to meet with leaders of the World Boxing Association and the International Boxing Federation to find common ground and closer links, in the true spirit of friendship and cooperation. He is encouraging more research into injuries but also urging their prevention. The WBC has created an amateur committee and tournaments to boost amateur boxing, which is being sorely tried and altered by AIBA. The WBC will soon be holding its third very successful Female Convention.
These and many more achievements define a remarkable, fine, amiable, caring man, who in spite of a young Family, devotes eight days a week to the job of leading and developing the World Boxing Council. an extended, but close family spanning 165 Nations. The united nations of Boxing.
Thank you Mauricio, Very Happy Birthday. You are our Tremendous Leader.
