The World Boxing Association (WBA) is proud to congratulate Venezuelan native Hector Criollo, coach and boxer of the South American country, who today has turned 77 years of age.

Criollo is a respected figure in the Latin American boxing world thanks to what he has instilled in the youth and the efforts he has put into training talent. He has always worked hand in hand with the WBA and has been close to the sanctioning body in the tasks of helping prospects and guarding several fighters.

He was born in 1941 and had a relatively short professional career, but was always classified as a difficult fighter, who managed to get the national championship and face rivals from other countries. He faced, among others, his legendary compatriot Betulio Medina and ended a 10-year career as a fighter with a record of 4 wins, 11 losses and 2 draws.

As a coach he has been an example to look up to and an icon. He has trained fighters such as Leo “Torito” Gamez (world champion of four categories) and Wilfredo Gomez, developing in Maracay one of the most important schools for pugilism in Venezuela.

The WBA wishes you many congratulations on your day and hopes to continue collaborating with Hector in different aspects. Happy Birthday!
