Mexican boxer Rey Vargas will defend his WBC super bantamweight title on February 9, against Venezuelan Franklin Manzanilla at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
The 28-year-old champion won the green and gold belt after defeating Brit Gavin McDonell in Yorkshire, and has defended it successfully on three occasions against Ronny Rios, Oscar “Jaguar” Negrete and Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan.
Vargas said he is ready to return to the ring after recovering completely from a hand injury.
