Veteran referee Herb Dean is out of the UFC 232 main event between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson due to injury.

California State Athletic Commission director Andy Foster confirmed the news to MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi on Wednesday.

According to Foster, referee Mike Beltran will step in as Dean’s replacement.

‘Big’ John McCarthy was in charge of the action for Jones vs. Gustafsson I back in 2013, which saw ‘Bones’ defend his light heavyweight title in a Fight of the Night classic at UFC 165.

British referee Marc Goddard is on refereeing duties for the UFC 232 co-main event between Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes. Nunes, the women’s bantamweight champion, will move up in weight in hopes of becoming the UFC’s first ever women’s double champ. Chris Lee, Dave Hagen and Mike Bell will judge the action from ringside.

Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo have been appointed as judges for Jones vs. Gustafsson II.

The blockbuster pay-per-view takes place this Saturday, Dec. 29 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
