In Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, WBA #7 ranked flyweight Charlie Hoy (15-0, 10 KOs) retained his WBA Fedelatin title with a dramatic fourth round knockout of Dominican challenger Donny Garcia (16-4, 5 KOs).
Garcia had stepped in as a substitute for Venezuelan Albert Gonzalez. The Dominican boxer started off well with an educated jab, good movement and feints. In the third round, the diminutive (5’3″) but strong Briton started to cut off the ring well, turning the fight into a brawl, landing uppercuts and body blows. At 1:47 seconds of the fourth, a well-placed vicious right hand to the ribs leveled the Dominican boxer to the canvas for the full count.
After the fight, Hoy sent a challenge to WBA World Champion Artem Dalakian: “Artem, you’re 17-0, I’m 15-0. We’re both warriors, we come to fight, so let’s get it on. I’ll go to Russia or anywhere you want. I’m ready for you.”Other Bouts:
