Hughie Fury steps up his competition tomorrow in Bulgaria when he takes on Kubrat Pulev, but of course the 24-year-old heavyweight has stepped up before, when he faced Joseph Parker for the WBO title in September 2017, losing a decision.
Fury (21-1, 11 KO) believes he’s better prepared for this fight than he was for Parker:
“I feel mentally focused and more determined to get back to the top after the Parker fight. I’ve got more mental concentration and strength than I had for the Parker fight. I’m a different person to the one who fought Joseph Parker. With age, you change mentally and I’m more hungry to make it to the top level. This is the best I have ever felt going into a fight both physically and mentally and I’m ready to go there and get the win.”
Fury also questions how a 18-month layoff may impact Pulev (25-1, 13 KO), who is also 13 years older than Fury, with more miles on his body.
Pulev-Fury will stream live tomorrow afternoon on ESPN+ for U.S. viewers.
