The IBF has ordered a purse bid for a featherweight title fight between champion Josh Warrington and mandatory challenger Kid Galahad.

Warrington (28-0, 6 KO) and Galahad (26-0, 15 KO) were ordered to begin negotiations on Jan. 7, and on Jan. 12, the IBF was sent written notice from promoter Eddie Hearn on behalf of Galahad indicating that they were no longer willing to participate in negotiations.

At that time, Matchroom and Hearn requested an immediate purse bid, which has been scheduled for Jan. 24.

Warrington, 28, had a breakout 2018, winning the IBF title from Lee Selby on May 19, and then defending successfully against Carl Frampton on Dec. 22. The win over Selby was considered an upset by most, and the win over Frampton solidified Warrington as a legitimate top fighter at 126 pounds.

Galahad, 28, fought three times in 2018, beating Irving Berry, Toka Kahn Clary in an IBF eliminator, and Brayan Mairena in a stay-busy bout in December.
