The International Boxing Hall of Fame of Canastota announced the new members of the Class 2019, which includes: the two division champions Donald “Lone Star Cobra” Curry, Julian “The Hawk” Jackson and James Buddy McGirt, in the Modern category plus welterweight champion Tony DeMarco in the Old Timer category.
Non-participants and observers who will be admitted include: Don Elbaum promoter, Guy Jutras (Judge/referee), Lee Samuels (publicist) and broadcaster Teddy Atlas.
“We are very excited about the Class of 2019. We look forward to honor the new members,” Executive Director Edward Brophy said.
The Induction Hall of Fame weekend 2019 will be held on June 6-9 in Canastota, New York. Many events are planned to take place in Canastota throughout the four days of celebration, including a 5 km race, a golf tournament, a meet and greet, a VIP cocktail reception, a parade of champions plus the great official induction ceremony at the Hall of Fame Museum.
The Hall of Fame also launched the name of a posthumous honoree: journalist Mario Rivera Martino in the category of observer.
