Light heavyweights Ilir Latifi and Tyson Pedro will battle at UFC 215 in Edmonton.
An intriguing light heavyweight matchup was announced on Wednesday, as #9-ranked Ilir Latifi is set to face Tyson Pedro at UFC 215 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Saturday, September 9th. The night’s main card airs live on pay-per-view, with prelims on Fox Sports 1.
Latifi (12-5, 1 NC) was scheduled to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Oklahoma City last weekend, only for Nogueira to withdraw due to injury. The Swede hasn’t fought since losing to Ryan Bader at UFC Hamburg in September. Latifi had been on a three-fight winning streak, including brutal knockouts of Hans Stringer and Sean O’Connell, prior to the Bader fight.
Pedro (6-0) has been quite impressive in his two UFC appearances. The 25-year-old Australian submitted Khalil Rountree in his Octagon debut last November, then dispatched and stopped Paul Craig at UFC 209 in March. None of his pro bouts has gone past the opening round.
UFC 215 does not have a main event. The biggest fight confirmed thus far is a heavyweight bout between former champion Junior dos Santos and rising contender Francis Ngannou.
