DAVAO CITY  – Newly-crowned World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific welterweight champion Jay-ar Inson of MP Davao Gym will be making his first title defense in April in Tokyo, Japan.

“Inson will defend his title against another Japanese,” said his manager and chief trainer Raides “Nonoy” Neri.

It will also be promoted by Japanese promoter Masaya Motoshi of Green Tsuda Promotions.

Inson captured the vacant WBC Asia Pacific welterweight title by stopping Japanese Ryota Yada by a technical knockout in 2:26 of the 7th round last December 4 at the EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan.

Before the championship, Inson was only fighting in the lightweight division with a clean record of 12 wins with 8 knockouts and no loss or draw.

“Bale umakyat siya ng dalawang divisions na junior welterweight and welterweight upang makalaban sa Japan,” said Neri.

The 5-foot-10 Inson, however, still had no problem in climbing from the 135 lbs. to the 147 lbs. division as he posted his 13th straight win and 9th knockout.

“May lakas kasi si Inson,” said Neri, also one of the assistant Filipino trainers of 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

The 26-year old Inson is also a former interim WBO Oriental lightweight champion. He won it via a 2nd round TKO over Indonesian Victor Mausul last Aug. 14, 2015 at the SM Davao.

Before he went to Japan, Inson won by a unanimous decision against Minproba featherweight champion Jaime Barcelona last August 23 in Kidapawan City.
