When you’re an explosive 23 year old super middleweight, sparring with world champions before you’ve even made your debut, there will ALWAYS be hype surrounding you.

It’s no different for Germaine Brown, the former Boxing Alliance England finalist, who has adjusted to life in the pro ranks with the same level of confidence that saw him on his way to such a successful amateur career despite not getting started in the sport until the tender age of 16.

The main sparring partner to George Groves ahead of Saint’s WBSS clash with Chris Eubank JR, Brown can already boast the level of elite sparring that many hot prospects can only dream of – a winning start to his pro career saw Brown successfully on his way to something massive;

So you made your debut on the 14th April at York Hall, there can’t be many better places to kick off a pro career, how was the atmosphere?

It was amazing I had all my friends, family and supporters there, I couldn’t wait to get out there and put on a good performance. It’s always a great crowd at York Hall, I watched a lot of fights there so being on the stage instead of in the crowds felt great.

I was actually there on the night, didn’t get to speak to you then but, how did it go from your perspective?

I think it went well, the warm up was great, I felt prepared and everything just fell into place. I didn’t get tired and I took my time, however I did rush certain shots as it was my first fight but I’ll grow out of that as I get more comfortable in the ring.

And when you’re in the ring do you try and just concentrate on your own game or do you, sort of, bounce off the crowd?

I always focus on my own game, I listen to my coach, we work as a team before and during the fight.

How often would you like to fight this year?

As much as possible I haven’t got a set number but I’m always training so I can be ready for any opportunity to fight.

In terms of development, would you rather more frequent fights to get rounds or fewer but more 50-50 fights?

I’d rather fight regularly for a couple of fights and then progress into more 50-50 fights.

You were George Groves’ sparring partner for the Eubank clash, even though ours only sparring, what can you learn from those experiences?

I got some great insight into what it takes to train as a champion. And I got to experience first hand the kind of stamina, dedication and work ethic it takes.

Would you fancy a fight with him one day?

Of course, when I’m ready, he was a great sparring partner.

And finally from me mate, when can we next see you out & what can we expect?

I’m back out on the 2nd June, you can expect a lot of energy, forward fighting, fast hands, good footwork and power punching. good clean boxing.
