Jackie Nava wants to fight Yamileth Mercado

The first women world champion of the World Boxing Council has shown that at 40 she is still at a high level.

This weekend Jackie faced and defeated tough Karina Fernández, who despite being 10 years younger, was outfought.

“Princesa Azteca” showed great physical condition. She attacked from multiple angles and landed powerful combinations to get the victory by unanimous decision with scores of 100-90, 97-93, and 99-91.

At the end of the fight, Jackie the legend challenged the current WBC super bantamweight champion, Yamileth Mercado, who was at the arena commenting on the fight with the Box Azteca Team.

“I want her title and we hope that we can set that fight. We are going to look for it” Nava announced.

“She is a boxing legend and I want to become one. It would be an interesting fight and it has to happen. It is also an opportunity for me to face a legend” Mercado replied.
