James Gallagher doesn’t plan to sit on the sidelines for long.
News broke Monday that Gallagher would be forced to withdraw from the main event of Bellator 196 in Budapest, Hungary, after suffering a hand injury in training. The 24-year-old Irishman took to Instagram to comment on the injury and announce his intentions to be back for Bellator 200 this coming May.
Gallagher wrote that he fractured his hand “in an unlucky training accident” and that he would have fought through the injury if he had been medically cleared to do so.
This is the second straight bout that Gallagher has lost to injury. Last November, “The Strabanimal” was supposed to fight Jeremiah Labiano at Bellator 187, but he was forced out with a knee injury. Gallagher is 4-0 inside the Bellator cage and 7-0 overall as a professional.
