The only two times talented Japanese boxer Kiyoshi Hatanaka lost in his distinguished 25 fight career was to champions trained by the legendary Hall of Fame Coach Nacho Beristain.

His first defeat via UD, was an unsuccessful challenge for the WBC super flyweight belt of the legendary Gilberto Roman in 1988.  Fast forward to 1991, when he lost an even closer split decision to Daniel Zaragoza in what Kiyoshi says was by far his toughest fight ever, during  a very respectable 22-2-1, with 15 KO`s career.

Now Kiyoshi is visiting Mexico and his most important full stop will be at the Gilberto Roman/Romanza gym to have a chat with Nacho.  Accompanying him is his 19 year old son Kendo, who`s following Dad`s career path.  A super flyweight in his own right,  he`s already had three pro fights.

Visitors to the World Boxing Council  weekly presser at the Railroad Union HQ in Mexico City,  Kendo accompanied by Dad, was urged toward the right lines of the Youth Championship, which has an age limit of twenty three, by WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman.

The youngster might have his sights set even higher.  Before the event started,  he was photographed lovingly cradling Rey Vargas`s Green and Gold absolute super bantamweight belt!
