“Mississippi Mean” is headed to the big city.
Jason Knight will face Jordan Rinaldi in a featherweight bout at UFC 230 on Nov. 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The two fighters confirmed the meeting on their social media accounts following an initial report by Newsday.
This is a pivotal matchup for Knight (20-5), a fan favorite who has lost his last three fights after starting 4-1 with the UFC. He was last seen losing a split decision to Makwan Amirkhani at UFC Liverpool in May. Prior to this losing stretch, Knight had earned wins over the likes of Chas Skelly,Alex Caceres, and Dan Hooker.
Rinaldi (13-6) will also be looking to break out of a funk with just one win in his first three UFC appearances. Following a first-round TKO loss to Gregor Gillespie in January, Rinaldi will drop back down to 145 pounds for the first time since competing on a National Fighting Championship show in June 2015. His lone UFC win was a first-round Von Flue choke of Alvaro Herrera at UFC Mexico City.
A main event for UFC 230 is still yet to be announced.
