Sanman flyweight contender Jayson Mama (W12 KO6 L0 D0) has wrapped up his training camp in preparation for his upcoming showdown with former WBA World Minimumweight Champion Ekkawit Songnui (W49 KO26 L6 D1) of Thailand. The fight will be held on June 9 at the TV5 Studio in Novaliches and will be aired via live telecast at ESPN5 12pm-4pm.
“I’ve never been so excited for a fight. It’s my first time to fight live on National TV where everyone can see me fight. I’m pressured but I’m thrilled even more. My opponent is a tough warrior and is more experienced inside the ring.
“He had his time being a former world champion but now is my time and I have the support of my countrymen and that’s a big boost to my morale. I will do my best to entertain all the fans”, Jayson Mama stated.
For Sanman CEO Jim Claude Manangquil, this is a tough test for his ward. “We don’t cherry pick opponents. We are placing a seasoned veteran in front of Jayson. It’s up to him to impress or disappoint.
“This is a test at how prepared he is to contend for a world title. I believe he is primed for the shot but he has to prove it. I am happy that ESPN5 has given us this platform where we can showcase our up and coming boxing stars”, Manangquil said.
