Jeff Horn: I should beat Mundine easily

Jeff Horn, the former WBO welterweight champion, is likely to face Anthony Mundine this November in Australia in what should be a big-money bout in the country.

Horn will be moving up in weight for a catchweight fight, which looks like it’ll be at 71kg (156.5 pounds). But Horn is confident that he’s going to have too much for his older opponent:

“The negotiations for the fight have taken a long time and it’s been frustrating but I should beat Mundine easily. He’s been around for a long time, he’s very skilful and he’s got that slick boxing style that could give me problems. But I am very confident.”

It wasn’t too long ago that Horn (18-1-1, 12 KO) and his team were sort of turning up their noses at a fight with the 43-year-old Mundine (48-8, 28 KO), who hasn’t really been a contender in many years now.

But that was before Horn’s June trip to Las Vegas, where he was thoroughly humbled by Terence Crawford in a ninth round TKO loss.

Now, a money fight with Mundine, which may in fact be a relatively easy win for the 30-year-old battler, is plenty attractive. It will pad his bank account, probably get him a win, and get some headlines in Australia and with the boxing media around the world.
