Invicta FC’s planned date in Las Vegas before The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale was not to be. The all-women’s MMA promotion will be heading back to its home base in Kansas City in December.
Jennifer Maia will defend her flyweight title against Agnieszka Niedzwiedz in the main event of Invicta FC 26 on Dec. 8, the promotion announced officially Wednesday. The event will also mark the return of rising strawweight Mizuki Inoue, who has been out since last year due to knee surgery. Inoue will meet prospect Janaisa Morandin.
Maia (14-4-1) has won five straight, most recently a split decision win over Roxanne Modafferiin September 2016. The 29-year-old Brazilian has won Invicta gold since March 2016. Niedzwiedz (10-0) is one of Invicta’s top young talents, coming off a unanimous decision victory over Vanessa Porto in May. The 22-year-old from Poland has won seven of her 10 fights via finish.
Inoue (12-4) has not fought since a second-round submission win over Lynn Alvarez in July 2016. The well-rounded Japanese fighter is still only 23 years old. Morandin (9-0) is coming off a hard-fought unanimous decision loss to former strawweight champion Livia Renata Souza in August. The 22-year-old Brazilian was undefeated prior to that, her Invicta debut.
A flyweight bout between Porto and Jessica-Rose Clark was also announced Wednesday.
Invicta FC 26 will take place at Scottish Rite Temple and air live on UFC Fight Pass.
