Former matchmaker Ronald Jerez of Masinloc, Zambales clarified today (Nov. 9) that he did not receive money from the promoter of the United States.

“No I did not give you $2000 I said I spent $2000 in airfare that was wasted.”

That was the statement of promoter Dave Price regarding the news that Jerez received USD 2,000.

“Sino naman ang g… na promoter magbigay ng pera na ang boxer di pa dumating sa Amerika (Sino naman ang g… na promoter magbigay ng pera na ang boxer di pa dumating sa America),” said Jerez in a Facebook.

Jerez said that he sent to GAB Chairman Baham the round trip ticket of the boxer. But Borres was not able to take the flight in the morning.

“Ang release ng bagong passport niya hapon. kaya na re scheduled sana Nov.5 sa Las Vegas di na pwede ihabol ng promoter kaya na cancelled na. (The release of his new passport this afternoon. so it was re -scheduled for Nov.5 in Las Vegas, the promoter can’t chase it anymore, so it’s canceled),” said Jerez.

But Jerez has already informed Price that it has been reset with Borres still the opponent.

“Alam ni Borres dahil ilang araw ko siya kasama pati pag follow up sa DFA sa renewal ng passport niya (Borres knew because I was with him for a few days as well as following up with the DFA on the renewal of his passport),” said Jerez.

Jerez admitted his mistakes in the past but he has changed already.

“Mga nakaraan tapos na yon. nagbago na tayo pero kinukuha mo pa (The past is over. we are new but you are still digging),” said Jejez.

“Na finalize na ang card sa Las Vegas Nov.5, 2021 (The card has been finalized in Las Vegas Nov.5, 2021),” he added.

Jerez was also responsible for sending Borres to the US were he fought against undefeated Matthew “Diamond Boy” Griego of New Mexico.

Borres got lost by a majority decision for the vacant American Boxing Federation Continental Americas flyweight title last March 7, 2020 at Isleta Casino and Resort in Albuquerque.

Earlier, Jerez also sent super bantamweight Joseph “The Scorpion” Ambo (10-2-1, 6KOs) of Cagayan de Oro City, who beat unbeaten Darren Cunningham of US by a unanimous decision last August 14 to win the vacant NABF Junior super bantamweight title.

He personally sent at the airport Ambo, who is now residing at the North Hollywood, California.
