Undefeated former 154-pound world champion Jermall Charlo held a brisk open media training on Thursday in his hometown of Houston as he prepares for his WBC interim world title match against Hugo Centeno Jr. Saturday, March 3 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Premier Boxing Champions event will be led by WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder defending his title against undefeated contender Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz.
This is what Charlo said at the end of his training at the Charlo Boxing and Fitness Club in Houston:
“It’s going to be a tough fight against Hugo Centeno Jr. If he can deal with my power, we’re going to fight hand-to-hand and it’s going to be a brutal war, so I’ll try to knock him out fast.”
“We cannot disappoint Houston now. My brother and I have come this far, so we can not stop. It’s my turn to offer a spectacular performance on March 3. My goal is to show everyone that I’m the best middleweight in the world. I’m going to keep fighting with everyone they put in front of me. I’m going to defeat them one by one until I reach Canelo or Golovkin.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work on some improvements in my style since my last fight. I think more patience in the ring will help me to raise my level even more, as I want to be a great middleweight champion.”
“Hugo Centeno Jr. is another fighter who is in my way, I know he will come prepared, but I am sure that I will emerge with victory. This is going to be a great year for me and my brother. All the word will know what the Charlo twins are capable to do. ”
