FAST RISING Melvin Oliva “Gringo”Jerusalem continued his winning streak by scoring an upset win via a unanimous decision against current WBC International super flyweight champion Jonathan “Hardworker” Refugio last Saturday night at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Jerusalem knocked down Refugio in the fourth round and continued to pile up points in the remaining rounds.
The 22-year old Jerusalem now has 10 straights wins with seven knockouts while Refugio dropped to 15 wins-5 losses-4 draws-3Kos. Jerusalem previously defeated former IBF minimumweight title-holder. In the supporting bout, Jeo Santisima knocked out Junior Bajawa while Jess Rhey Waminal won by a split decision against Joe Tejones.
