The third slot on “Superfly 2” remains open, as IBF champ Jerwin Ancajas will instead make his stateside debut on February 3rd in Corpus Christi. “Pretty Boy” will face #10 Israel Gonzalez in the ESPN co-feature of Gilberto Ramirez vs. Habib Ahmed.

Ancajas (28-1-1, 19 KO) intends to fight three times in 2018 and is reportedly “very close” to signing with Top Rank.

The Filipino standout has won fifteen straight, fourteen by knockout. Only then-champ McJoe Arroyo has made it the distance, although he did hit the deck in the eighth round. This will be his fourth title defense and his first fight since demolishing Jamie Conlan last month.

Gonzalez (21-1, 8 KO) is on an eight-fight streak of his own, albeit one far emptier. His four 2017 fights included wins over Cristian Cortes (5-6) and Reymundo Hernandez (0-1).

In short, fodder.

In addition to this fight and the main event, the card will feature unbeaten Olympian Teofimo Lopez and heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr. in his first fight since barely losing to Joseph Parker twelve months ago, both against TBA.
