Filipino Jerwin Ancajas retained his IBF super flyweight world title in a tough and forceful rumble against previously unknown mandatory challenger Jonathan Rodriguez tonight at the plush Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut USA, live on Showtime.
“The pretty Boy” Ancajas (32-1-2, 22 KO) claimed the victory with unanimous tallies of 117-110, 115-112, 116-111, and 117-110.
The win is the 9th successful defense for the popular Mindanao warrior born in the thriving city of Panabo in Davao del Norte.
The 29-year old Ancajas landed effective over the four years younger Rodríguez (22-2, 16 KO’s), especially in the inside.
As a result of Ancajas intensity, Rodriguez went down to the canvas during the action of chapter 8.
However, the brave Mexican stood up and traded hard against the Pinoy to keep the rumble at a competitive level.
At the end of the 12th, it was clear that Jerwin Ancajas was the boxer of more class, the one who scored more and better blows.
