Jerwin Ancajas to face Jonas Sultan on May 26

IBF super flyweight titleholder Jerwin Ancajas will return to ESPN airwaves on May 26, when he faces mandatory challenger and Filipino countryman Jonas Sultan, in Las Vegas.

ESPN reports that the fight will probably air on the new ESPN+ streaming service, as part of Top Rank’s content agreement with the network for he new service. The fight was previously set for the Horn-Crawford undercard, but needed a new date when that fight was postponed.

Ancajas (29-1-1, 20 KO) has emerged as one of the top names in the hot 115-pound division, winning his belt in September 2016 from McJoe Arroyo. He has since defended successfully against Jose Alfredo Rodriguez, Teiru Kinoshita, Jamie Conlan, and Israel Gonzalez. The win over Gonzalez on February 3 was Ancajas’ U.S. and ESPN debut.

Sultan (14-3, 9 KO) is getting the shot following wins over veterans Sonny Boy Jaro and John Riel Casimero in 2017. The 26-year-old contender has won five straight overall.
