Jerwin Ancajas vs. Jonas Sultan set for April 14th

IBF Super Flyweight Champion Jerwin Ancajas, who spent ten rounds smashing Israel Gonzalez last month, is set for a quick turnaround, taking on mandatory challenger Jonas Sultan on April 14th as part of the Terence Crawford-Jeff Horn undercard.

According to The Ring, this will be the first all-Filipino world title fight since the great Pancho Villa defeated Clever Sencio in 1925 in what wound up being Villa’s penultimate fight before his death.

BoxRec has Sultan (14-3, 9 KO) ranked #6 in the division thanks to recent wins over former champions Sonny Boy Jaro and Johnriel Casimero, plus a knockout of Zolani Tete’s brother Makazole in 2016. While it would have been nice to see Ancajas (29-1-1, 20 KO) look to unify, Sultan is no slouch. This should be a very good fight.

In addition to this fight and the main event, the card will feature a terrific super bantamweight clash between Jessie Magdaleno and Isaac Dogboe. Looks like a damn fine night of boxing to me.
