With an impressive strawweight debut, when she knocked out former title contender Jessica Penne in devastating fashion at UFC 199, Brazil’s Jessica Andrade feels like she is not too far away from her own title shot against reigning champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
In fact, as she told Portal do Vale Tudo, Andrade believes one could be in order if she scores another nice win when she faces Joanne Calderwood.
“If I score a nice knockout, which is what I predict,” Andrade said. “I will challenge the champion for sure. I mean, why not? It’s about time I get that opportunity to fight for the belt, anyway.”
After a 4-3 run in the UFC’s female bantamweight division, Andrade dropped down to the 115 lbs weight class, which ended in a successful debut against Jessica Penne. Now, she will take on Joanne Calderwood in the opening main card bout of UFC 203, in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 10.
