Another exciting women’s flyweight fight had been added to the UFC 231 card taking place on December 8th, as Jessica Eye will meet Katlyn Chookagian in Toronto.

Ariel Helwani of ESPN first reported the matchup. Eye, 32, will step into the Octagon a few weeks ahead of schedule, as her fight with Sijara Eubanks at UFC 232 was cancelled when Eubanks was pulled to face Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight title at UFC 230.

Since then, the scheduled title fight between Shevchenko and Eubanks has been scrapped, and Shevchenko will now fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the flyweight title in Toronto, whilst Eubanks will take on Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 230.

Eye (13-6, 1 NC) is currently on a two-fight winning streak for the first time ever in her UFC career. Suffering four defeats on the bounce, she most recently picked up decision victories against Kalindra Faria and Jessica-Rose Clark.

Since making her UFC debut against Lauren Murphy in July 2016, Chookagian (11-1) has picked up four wins in the promotion. Only dropping a decision loss to Liz Carmouche at UFC 205, she is currently on a three-fight winning streak.

UFC 231 will take place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. A UFC featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega will headline the card. It is understood that Eye vs. Chookagian will serve as a backup for the fight between Shevchenko and Jedrzejczyk should one of them pull out.
