Jessica McCaskill’s story just go that much better tonight, going from a homeless child to a WBC junior welterweight champion of the world. McCaskill came into this fight on her home turf, but against a reigning world champion in Jessica Farias, but McCaskill proved she wasn’t intimidated.
McCaskill would walk down Farias from the first round, buckling Farias’ knees and threw punches in bunches with authority. Over the course of the fight Farias has trouble sustaining the pace McCaskill was setting, and that would wind up being the difference in the fight.
At the end of 10 rounds of action, the judges turned in official scores of 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94, for a unanimous decision in McCaskill’s favor. I scored the fight for McCaskill, 98-92 for BLH. With the win McCaskill is expected to be back in the running for another showdown with Katie Taylor, who will be fighting in Boston in just a couple of weeks.
