Jessie Magdaleno will be staying with Top Rank, signing a new deal with the promotional company this week, according to ESPN.

Manager Frank Espinoza says the former 122-pound titleholder wants a rematch with Isaac Dogboe, who stopped Magdaleno in a terrific fight on April 28 to win the WBO super bantamweight title, which Magdaleno won in November 2016 from Nonito Donaire.

“Things have been going good with Top Rank. We have a good relationship and we and wanted to re-up, and there was an offer and we took it. … We want to fight Dogboe again. He believes he can beat him. That’s the fight we would like to fight.”

Magdaleno (25-1, 18 KO) is likely to return on the Ancajas-Santiago undercard in September, and will be back with old trainer Ismael Salas for that fight. The 26-year-old southpaw will likely take something of a tune-up in that bout as he looks to get a rematch with Dogoe later, or some other bigger fight if that one can’t be made for some reason.
