Jessie Vargas says he’s willing to travel to the United Kingdom to face Amir Khan, but expects that he’ll be fighting a rematch with Adrien Broner in his next outing.
From Sky Sports:
“We are open to making all fights happen but, at the moment, I believe the rematch with Broner will happen first. There have been firm talks of a return bout since the first fight and we hope to finalize things and make an announcement very, very, soon. … I lost all respect for Broner after we fought and it’s now time to settle our score.”
Vargas (28-2-1, 10 KO) fought to a controversial draw with Broner (33-3-1, 24 KO) on April 21, and the trash talk in the ring after the fight was pretty raw, too, both things that set up a potentially intriguing rematch.
The 29-year-old Vargas also says that if (well, he says “when,” of course) he beats Broner in a rematch, he wants to fight the Garcia-Porter victor for the WBC welterweight title, which is expected to be filled on August 25.
