In an exciting televised Filipino vs Mexican battle, Pinoy featherweight Jhon “The Disaster” Gemino (19-11-1, 9 KO’s) of Lipa City, Batangas, caused total disaster stopping in seven thrilling chapters tough Mexican rising-star Carlos “Chinito” Ornelas (22-2, 12 KO’s) in their TV Azteca main event clash Saturday (March 2) in Tijuana, Baja California, México.


Wearing the colors of the Filipino flag in his fighting trousers, Jhon Gemino endured furious attacks from the strong 24 year-old Mexican who had the fight’s upper hand, dictating the tempo throughout the initial stages of the ten-rounder war.

In several instances, the Mexican southpaw clearly took rounds by pinning the underdog Gemino, 26, against the ropes uploading him with a rough assortment of sharp hurting punches.

But the Filipino kept on trading blows with Ormelas, never losing heart, putting all his focus on launching an effective counter-attack over the Mexican fighter promoted by Zanfer.   

His fighting strategy paid off unbelievable well as the Filipino successfully connected a crushing power left hook to the chin of the Mexican, rocking the Aztec warrior down and out near a neutral corner, totally silencing the crowd.  

It was a wild left blow that the Mexican did not see incoming.  

Official time of stoppage was 42 seconds into round seven.


The rumble was the 5th time that Gemino’s fought in the land of Erik “El Terrible” Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez.   

In fact, all of Germino’s prior battles in Mexico had ended up in hurtful loses, including two painful knockouts. 

But tonight it was Gemino’s payback time!

Congratulations to Jhon “The Disaster” Gemino for his thrilling win in Tijuana, México, a rewarding success that propels him to more exciting missions.
