Jimi Manuwa has a new opponent for UFC Sao Paulo.
“Poster Boy” was originally slated to meet Glover Teixeira in a five-round main event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 22, but agreed to face Brazilian middleweight Thiago Santos in a light heavyweight bout, multiple sources confirmed to MMA Fighting following a report by ESPN.
“Marreta” teased earlier this week that Manuwa had turned down a fight with him in Sao Paulo, and Manuwa posted some interesting tweets on Friday morning.
“ I offered to fight Manuwa in Sao Paulo but he declined. I get it! He is coming off 2 losses doesnt need a 3rd!!!! @ufc @ufc_brasil @canalCombate
I never disrespect anyone. Usually, when guys start huffing and puffing, it means they are scared! @ufc @UFCBrasil @canalCombate #UFCSãoPaulo
Manuwa (17-4) looks to get back on track after losses to Jan Blachowicz and Volkan Oezdemir, while Santos (18-6) makes his 205-pound debut in the Octagon seven weeks after a UFC 227victory over Kevin Holland.
