We know an interesting bantamweight fight will go down on Sept. 8. We just don’t yet know where.
Jimmie Rivera and John Dodson will meet at UFC 228, at a venue to be determined, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani has learned.
Rivera (21-2) is coming off a knockout loss to Marlon Moraes in the main event of UFC Utica. Prior to the loss, the New Yorker had won 20 consecutive fights, including his first five UFC bouts.
Dodson (20-9), meanwhile, has been a factor in both the bantamweight and flyweight divisions during his UFC tenure. The JacksonWink competitor, and TUF 14 champion, has won two of his past three fights, most recently a split decision over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 222.
While still lacking a host site, this is the second fight reported for UFC 228, as a featherweight bout between Yair Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov is also slated to go down on Sept. 8.
