Joanna Jedrzejczyk will look to return to the win column when she meets Tecia Torres at UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary on July 28.
UFC announced the strawweight bout through its social media channels Wednesday following an initial report from ESPN.
Jedrzejczyk (14-2) suffered the first two losses of her MMA career in her last two outings. After being dethroned by Rose Namajunas at UFC 217, she lost a decision to “Thug” when they met for a rematch at UFC 223. Ahead of the defeats, the decorated Muay Thai champion equaled Ronda Rousey’s record of five UFC title defenses.
Torres (10-2) had her title trajectory disturbed by Jessica Andrade when the Brazilian bested her over three rounds at UFC on FOX 28 in Orlando. Andrade snapped a three-fight win streak for Torres who had beaten Bec Rawlings, Juliana Lima and Michelle Waterson ahead of their meeting. The only other defeat on Torres’ record came against strawweight champion, Namajunas.
The fight will mark Jedrzejczyk’s first non-title fight since her sophomore UFC outing in 2014 when she scored a split-decision win over Claudia Gadelha in a title eliminator bout.
