Two of the strawweight fights who wanted a UFC flyweight division the most are getting their wish — and making the move up against one another.
Joanne Calderwood will meet Bec Rawlings in a 125-pound fight at UFC Fight Night 121 on Nov. 19 in Sydney, Australia, per a report in the Brisbane Times that was confirmed on Twitter by the UFC.
Calderwood (11-3) was once thought to be an inevitable title challenger at strawweight, but is coming off two straight losses. Most recently, the Scottish striker fell to Cynthia Calvillo by unanimous decision last month in her native Glasgow.
Calderwood, 30, is an alum of The Ultimate Fighter 20 and did string together a pair of wins before this current losing streak. “Dr. Kneevil” fought at 125 pounds against Valerie Letourneau last year and won via third-round TKO.
Rawlings (7-6), Calderwood’s castmate on TUF 20, has also lost two in a row, to Paige VanZant and Tecia Torres. The Aussie missed weight before the loss to Torres in January. Rawlings, 28, has a 2-3 record in the UFC.
UFC Fight Night 121 will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Marcin Tybura. No other bouts have been made official yet for the card.
