BANGKOK, Thailand — He did it. Filipino John Michael Zulueta did not disappoint his fans, delivering a riveting and exciting round two TKO win over brave Thai fighter Sittichai Namnual Wednesday evening, September 28, at the luxurious Spaceplus Bangkok in Thailand.
From the start of actions, the lighting-fast Pinoy warrior aggressively pursue his opponent throwing combinations at him, landing with success, mindful of surprise counter-attacks.
During that first round, a long left sent by the world-ranked Zulueta unintentionally landed on the balls of the Thailand fighter.
Ooopppssss… sorry brother!
It seemed that the Filipino had intended a left to the liver, but the punch travelled low, impacting Sittichai’s testicles area as he was backing away in a quick defensive move. (take a look at the photo to see if you can figure out what happened)
Thankfully, the Thai’s protector prevented any damage, the incident unfolding as a minor mishap without any hurt for the tough Thai warrior.
Luckily for the Pinoy, the Thai referee did not say anything. Sittichai did not say anything either, the battle continuing with Zulueta pressing forward.
The Visaya boy kept on scoring elegant and damaging combinations of quality on the head and body of the strong Thai, quickly reducing his stamina till the nearby end.
Zulueta even went on to drop Sittichai… later on forcing him to abandoned combat for a round two TKO in his favor.
With the quick and riveting victory, the Bacolod-native achieved none other thing than his 3rd consecutive knockout win in Thailand, conquering in the process the vacant ABF light flyweight strap.
The feat also improves Zulueta’s standing in the 105lbs world-rankings, which is the weight-class where the Planet’s top two fighters are formidable Thai champions: Panya Prabadsri and Niyomtrong Thammanoon.
The victorious Zulueta, 27, was congratulated by experienced man of boxing Mr. Naris Singwancha, president of the Asian Boxing Federation (ABF), as well as by the Filipino Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, who much enjoyed the triumph of his kababayan.
Zulueta’s title win was one of main attractions during the exciting boxing event produced by Award-winning Filipino promoter Brico Santig of Highland Boxing Promotions, done in association with Supanat Chanram and Tony Chen.
Congratulations John Michael Zulueta!
