The 33-year old Tupas (10-32-5, 2 KOs) is facing Nepal’s Nibesh Ghale (0-1-0) for four rounds.
Tupas is coming from a technical knockout loss to Taju Shiratori last June 13 in Japan, while Glale also dropped his pro debut by a majority decision to Kuok Kun Ng in China.
“Both are hungry for a victory, so we expect an exciting bout,” said Tupas’ trainer Allan Alegria of MP Highland Boxing Gym from Manila.
Tupas, a native of Cadiz City has fought in four separate championships in his 12-year boxing career. Tupas bowed to Ranel Suco by a unanimous decision in their battle for the interim WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title in 2013 in Paranaque City.
Tupas then suffered a 4th round knockout to Jilbert Gomera for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight title in 2015 in Gen. Santos City. In his next title-fight, Tupas was stopped by Roman Canto by a 9th round TKO for the PBF featherweight crown in December 2015.
The following year, Tupas dropped a technical decision to Cristian Abila for the vacant LuzProBA featherweight crown in Makati City.
Pitted in the main event is the 12-round title-fight between defending WBO International super flyweight champion Rex “The Wonder Kid” Tso (21-0-0, 13 KOs) of Hong Kong and Japanese challenger Kohei Kono (33-10-1, 14 KOs).
The main supporting event is the championship fight for the vacant WBO Oriental super featherweight title between Takuya Watanabe (32-7-1, 17KOs) and Leshan Li (13-2-1, 8KOs).
The “CC3” boxing card is promoted by Jay Lau of DEF Promotions and Bob Arum of Top Rank with Alan Chau as the matchmaker.
