Indio, California will play host.
According to a recent report from The Ring, top featherweight prospect Joseph Diaz Jr. and fellow unbeaten Antonio Orozco will return to action in just over a month in Indio, California.
TBA’s pulling double-duty at the moment. Truly, we are blessed to live in the same era as this absolute sporting god.
Diaz (20-0, 11 KO), one of the division’s best rising stars alongside fellow former Olympian Oscar Valdez, ran roughshod over Jayson Velez last March on the undercard of Andre Ward vs. Sullivan Barrera. He’d previously fought five times in 2015 alone, so this year’s drop in quantity will hopefully lead to an upswing in quality.
Orozco (24-0, 16 KO) edged Emmanuel Taylor to begin his 2015 campaign, then benefited from some wonky scores against Humberto Soto five months later. His sole 2016 effort saw him hand Miguel Acosta his fifth consecutive loss, so he’s still got quite a bit to prove.
We’ll let you guys know if either of these two wind up facing a warm body.
