Joseph Duffy will return to action for the first time in over a year when he meets former BAMMA champion Marc Diakiese at UFC London on Mar. 16.
The UFC officially announced the contest via social media Saturday following an initial report from Myles Hutton.
Duffy (16-3-0) will go into the lightweight contest on the back the first TKO loss of his career, which he suffered at the hands of James Vick at UFC 217 in New York in Nov. 2017. The loss to Vick snapped a two-fight win streak for the Irishman having claimed consecutive wins over Mitch Clarke and Reza Madadi.
The Tristar fighter has compiled a record of 4-2 with the UFC since signing for the promotion. He claimed his other wins over Ivan Jorge and Jake Lindsey. His only other loss came by way of decision against current title contender Dustin Poirier.
Diakiese (12-3-0) is currently on a three-fight skid having dropped consecutive losses to Nasrat Haqparast, Daniel Hooker and Drakkar Klose. “The Bonecrusher” had a surging start to his UFC tenure, claiming three straight wins over a five month period over Lukasz Sajewski, Frankie Perezand Teemu Packalen.
At the time of his signing, Diakiese boasted a perfect 10-0-0 record and was considered a blue chip prospect on the back of his stellar run with BAMMA.
