Joseph Parker, the WBO heavyweight titleholder from New Zealand, expects to face a “rattled and angry” Anthony Joshua on March 31 in Cardiff, Wales, when the two unify belts.
Parker (24-0, 18 KO) also expects it’ll be the best version of Anthony Joshua, acknowledging that he’s in the fight of his life, but also expecting to come out victorious and add the WBA and IBF titles to his collection:
“I truly believe I’m going to come out victorious and I’m going to fly back home to see my family and I’m going to celebrate it and enjoy it. But you can never predict what is going to happen. It comes down to the day, who performs better and who feels better.
”This will be the biggest fight of my life so far and the excitement that I have to be part of this massive event fighting someone like Joshua who is undefeated. The challenge he is going to bring, I am over the moon. I am excited. The world should have one champion.”
Joshua (20-0, 20 KO) is getting the lion’s share of the split, has the home field advantage, and is the clear favorite. But Parker is not to be overlooked, either, as a young, unbeaten champion in his own right. Some fighters need a challenge like this to be their very best, and that could be the case for Parker.
Either way, it’s a big fight and will be a big ticket in Cardiff.
