Josesito Lopez vs. Miguel Cruz headlines April 28th PBC on FOX

Badlefthook.com

The venerable Josesito Lopez will get another chance to play spoiler next month when he takes on undefeated welterweight prospect Miguel Cruz in El Paso, headlining the latest installment of PBC on FOX.

Lopez (35-7, 19 KO) has fought just three times since 2014, but remains a gritty, entertaining scrapper. He was beating both Marcos Maidana and Andre Berto before his chin gave out on him, so if Cruz’s recent spate of decisions is a sign that his power’s not what people thought it was, this could wind up being pretty competitive.

Cruz (17-0, 11 KO) stopped eleven of his first twelve opponents, but has since gone to four decisions (two of them splits) and a DQ. Even the two unanimous decisions were scored 6-4. Lopez would be a career-best victory, although he’ll probably need a stoppage to regain his luster.

The card will also see Anthony Dirrell (31-1-1, 24 KO) make his first appearance of 2018 against Abraham Han (26-3-1, 16 KO) at super middleweight and unbeaten featherweight Jorge Lara (29-0-2, 21 KO) face former interim champ Claudio Marrero (22-2, 16 KO).
