“I am the champion and I will be for many years” declares WBC Light Flyweight female champion Esmeralda “Joya” Moreno, who defends the title on September 22 in Cancun, Quintana Roo, against Yesenia “Niña” Gómez, in a rematch.
“I am sure that being at my rival’s home will be complicated for many things, like the support, attendance and weather, but I am the real champion and that means that I must take advantage of experience and make a perfect fight. I have to be strong and effective to win all rounds and leave no doubt.”
Moreno and her team have a tip top quality sparring partners, especially Jessica Nery Plata, so that the boxing sessions are very intense.
“We know that the training is the most important part of a boxer’s work and that’s why we are boxing with high level girls, because we know the fight is very important and my WBC title will be on the line.”
