The World Boxing Council’s Silver Heavyweight Champion, undefeated Joe Joyce, will take on the experienced Christian Hammer at Wembley’s OVO Arena on Saturday, July 2, in a bout to be broadcast live on BT Sport.
After being out of the ring since he defeated Carlos Takam in July last year, following a broken wrist that sidelined him in the first half of this year, Joyce will have a tough test at Wembley against the German aged thirty four.
“The most important thing is to get Joe back in action and see how he feels after the injury,” promoter Frank Warren said.
“Christian Hammer is an experienced fighter who will give him a tough test and a good fight. If all goes well, we expect him to have another big fight later this year.
“I’ve known Christian Hammer for a while now. He fought tough opponents, it’s going to be a good and exciting fight. I’ve been out of the ring for a whole year, so it will be good to dust off my gloves and shake off the cobwebs. It’s going to be a great year,” said Joyce.
Hamburg resident Hammer has faced the likes of Tyson Fury, Erkan Teper, David Price, Alexander Povetkin, Luis Ortiz, Tony Yoka, Hughie Fury,
He recently went the distance with Frank Sanchez.
Tickets for this fight card at the OVO Arena, Wembley, are available from AXS.com and Ticketmaster.co.uk
