The hammer will soon to be dropped on both Juan Manuel Lopez and cornerman Albert Rivera for their post-fight brawl, advisor Gaby Penagaricano tells RingTV.

While neither man has formally been notified of their impending suspensions, Penagarciano says the paperwork should be forthcoming “any moment.”

The whole fracas took place just seconds after Lopez forced a TKO stoppage in the 11th round over Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Right after the referee waved off the fight, Lopez celebrated and appeared to exchange words with Vazquez’s cornerman Rivera, who quickly jumped between the ropes.

Lopez rushed over to confront Rivera, who greeted Lopez with a left hook to the jaw which momentarily stunned Lopez before the two exchanged punches. The whole thing was pretty wild but the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission apparently won’t turn a blind eye to the brawl, with suspensions for both men on the way pending an official hearing.

This also won’t be the first time Lopez has been in trouble with the commission. After he was stopped by Orlando Salido back in 2012, he declared that the referee Roberto Ramirez had gambling problems – inferring corruption and that the referee had placed bets on the outcome. For that outburst Lopez was suspended for a year, fined $10,000, and required to complete 100 hours of community service.

At age 33, and already being perceived as far past his prime, no kind of forced time off can be good for Lopez’s boxing career moving forward.
