GL: How’s everything been going in preparation for your upcoming fight with Ishe Smith? Camp has been going really good, really good. GL: What are your thoughts on Ishe as a fighter? I think he’s a good solid veteran. Nothing he does really stands out to me. He knows his way around the ring, but he’s been beaten eight times so there’s eight ways to beat him. I feel he’s a solid fighter though so I’ve got my work cut out for me.
GL: How do you feel about fighting him in his hometown on a Mayweather Promotions card?
Julian Williams: “It’s boxing man. He’s lost on Mayweather promotions before.”

GL: When you’re fighting a guy like Ishe who is known for having a strong chin, does it make you more focused on a distance fight?
JW: “I’m always focused on distance fights. I never go into the ring planning to knock a guy out. If the knockout comes I’ll take it, but I always train to go the distance.”

GL: You said there’s eight ways to beat him based on his losses, can you elaborate on that a bit? What weaknesses do you see in him that you feel like you’ll be able to exploit on fight night?
JW: “I’d rather keep that to myself because a lot of people read Boxingtalk.”
GL: What do you consider your biggest advantage coming into the ring?
JW: “Everything. I got youth on my side. He’s got some experience, but I’m younger, I’m faster, I believe I punch harder and I believe I’m the better fighter. Now I just got to prove it and I will prove it.”
GL: Do you consider Ishe a dirty fighter?
JW: “I don’t care about that. Boxing is a dirty business and fighters are dirty inside and outside the ring. I can’t control what he does, I can only control what I do.”

GL: What are you hoping a victory over Smith leads to?
JW: “I haven’t really thought about that either. I’m just focused on beating this guy.”

GL: What did you think about the junior middleweight championship triple header that recently took place at Barclay’s?
JW: “It was a great card.”
GL: C’mon J-Rock give me more than that man, you saw the fights, no?
JW: “I’m in camp man.”

GL: So there was three title fights in your division and you ain’t check them out?
JW: “I checked out all of them and they all fought good. I was more entertained with the Trout and Hurd fight. I stopped watching somewhere into the Lara-Gausha fight and the fight with Charlo and Lubin, he just got caught. That happens in boxing, but it was a great shot he got clipped with.”

GL: Are you hoping a victory over Smith leads to another tite fight?
JW: “Yes. That’s the goal, but it’s just one step at a time and I haven’t thought about that yet. I believe I got my work cut out for me with Ishe Smith, so you can ask me about that on November 19 after I beat this dude up.”
GL: Closing thoughts?
JW: “I don’t have any, just tune in on November 18.”
