Philadelphia has its official main event, and it has potential to be a barn burner. UFC officials announced on Tuesday that lightweight contenders Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethje will fight at UFC Philadelphia, on March 30.
A former World Series of Fighting champion, Justin Gaethje (19-2) will try and put together his first ever win streak in the Octagon. Most recently, the 30-year-old knocked out James Vick in August 2018, in a win that snapped a two-fight losing skid with TKO losses to of Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier.
Muay Thai specialist Edson Barboza (20-6) will also look to begin a new win streak when he meets Gaethje in March. The Brazilian was also on a two-fight skid, with losses to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Kevin Lee, but was able to defeat Dan Hooker via TKO in dominant fashion in December 2018.
UFC Philadelphia takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Pennsylvania. The main card airs live on ESPN television, and also includes a women’s strawweight matchup between Michelle Waterson and Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
