World Boxing Council welterweight champion Keith Thurman held a press conference at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to discuss his successful career and his future.

Thurman announced that he hopes to return in early 2018 in what will be his first fight since his unification bout vs.  Danny Garcia, having to then undergo  surgery,  after suffering an injury.

“I am in the rehabilitation stage, it will not be long before I return to the ring, my arm will be better than ever, I will be ready to defend my title in the first quarter of next year.

“I hope to continue my legacy and dominate the welterweight division.” Everything happens for a reason. I’m 28 now and I must be much more active in my career. I’m sure that overcoming this injury will be determinant factor.

“Shawn Porter is in our plans, but most likely I  will return against another rival and then I’ll face Porter.”
