Japanese World Boxing Council light flyweight champion, Ken “The Amazing Boy” Shiro (15-0 / 8Kos), will make the sixth defense of his title against the official WBC challenger, Filipino southpaw Jonathan “Lightning” Taconing (28-3 -1 / 22KOs).
The fight will be this Friday at the Osaka Edion Arena in Osaka city, Japan.
For Ken Shiro, this will be the sixth defense of his crown, which he conquered in 2017 in Tokyo by defeating Mexican Ganigan “The Wonder” Lopez, whom he defeated again in a rematch held last year.
In his most recent fight in Tokyo, Ken Shiro won by decision against Mexican Saul “Baby” Juarez.
For Tagalog Jonathan Taconig, this will be his third title opportunity . In 2012 he fought for the WBC crown versus Kompayak Porpramook, losing by technical decision in the fifth round. His Second shot took place in 2016 at the Mexico City Arena in, where he was defeated by a unanimous unanimous decision (108-119, 109-118, 112-115) by the then champion Ganigan Lopez .
