Keri Melendez returns at Bellator 242 against Emilee King

Two surging strawweights are headed to Bellator 242, when Keri Melendez faces off against Emilee King.

Bellator announced the fight after an initial report from ESPN.com. Bellator 242 takes place May 9 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. The event’s main card airs live on Paramount Network and DAZN following prelims on MMA Fighting.

Melendez and King are on hot streaks in the Bellator cage. Melendez has won all four of her pro MMA bouts, most recently outpointing Mandy Polk at Bellator 229. King is less than one month removed from an upset of boxing champ Ava Knight at Bellator 238; she used her formidable jiu-jitsu skills to nullify Knight’s striking and coax a tapout from a rear-naked choke.

Bellator 242 is headlined by a pair of title fights: Light heavyweight champ Ryan Bader will take on Vadim Nemkov, while ex-middleweight champ Gegard Mousasi and welterweight champ Douglas Lima will face off for the belt left vacant by Rafael Lovato Jr.
